Fleet-level Operations

Hybrid-electric aircraft could be the next generation of novel aircraft to reduce cost and emissions in the commercial aviation industry. The environment and constraints that aircraft operate in are important considerations for design to ensure feasibility within the commercial landscape. Our lab couples early design decisions with operational analysis to model HEA.

Novel aircraft design needs to be considered from systems to fleet level to understand the full impact of technology upgrades, operational changes, and fleet integration. The Fleet Level Operations And Technology Integration Environment (FLOATIE) was developed to analyze technology and operational upgrades at the aircraft and fleet level for future projection scenarios based on aircraft utilization and traffic growth rates.
