Hello, my name is Triết. I’m currently a 1st year Ph.D. student at Umich majoring in Aerospace Engineering. My research goal is to combine machine learning, computational research, and aerospace engineering together. Specifically, I focus on applying machine learning to Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) for electrified aircraft. Right now, I’m under Professor Gökçin Çınar in Integrated Design of Efficient Aerospace Systems (IDEAS) Lab.
I got my Aerospace Engineer bachelor’s degree at UC Irvine. It was a 3-years undergrad, so it was short, but I had a lot of fun. I was very good academically and helped a lot of people. And by “a lot,” I mean “a hell lot of people.” So many that every time I walk to class, there will be someone come up, introduce themself, and say “thank you” to me. They usually refer to me as “the goat” because I single-handedly raised the passing rate of Aerospace/Mechanical Engineer students. In fact, in 2025, if you go to UC Irvine and ask any Aerospace/ Mechanical Engineer student, they are very likely to know Triet Ho.
Besides the main quest in academia, I also do many other random side quests such as personal finance, cooking, and personal income tax. I was particularly good at personal finance and successfully convinced most of my friends to open a Roth IRA. They will thank me in 40 years but that’s another story. In my free time, I like to read comic books and listen to novels.
