Nikolas (Niko) Economos

Nikolas (Niko) Economos is a senior undergraduate studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Michigan, with a minor in Computer Science and the International Minor for Engineers. Niko is interested in intercultural, humanitarian, and sustainable applications of aerospace technology.

As part of the IDEAS Lab, Niko is building a software package to leverage generative AI for aircraft design and optimization. During his summer holidays, Niko worked in integration at hybrid-electric aircraft startup Electra.aero and operations at unmanned aviation startup Reliable Robotics.

Niko is an involved member of the Michigan community, in and outside of the Department of Aerospace. He currently works as a peer advisor for the International Programs in Engineering office, and previously served as structures lead for M-SAAVE’s humanitarian UAV mission. Niko is also co-president of Mindful Michigan, fundraising chair for Clay Club, a member of aerospace honor society Sigma Gamma Tau, and vocal percussionist for DJs A Cappella.
