Margaret Strand

Undergraduate Research Assistant

University of Michigan

Margaret Strand is an Aerospace Engineering BSE student expected to graduate in May 2026. As part of the IDEAS lab, she worked on modeling takeoff performance in FAST in order to add the capability to create constraint diagrams. While at Michigan, she participates in the Women in Aeronautics and Astronautics group and was previously the Autonomous Propulsion Lead on M-Fly Design/Build/Fly team.

She first became interested in sustainable aviation while interning at Joby Aviation, an eVTOL company. During her internship in flight test, she witnessed the challenges and opportunities created by electric and hybrid hydrogen-electric operations, and wanted to explore sustainable aviation research further.

Outside of academics, she is a member of the Michigan Triathlon Club and enjoys running, swimming, and spending time outside.
