Barath G R is a first-year master’s student pursuing Aerospace Engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is a Research Assistant at the IDEAS Lab and working on the Propulsion System Modelling Using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) project. Specializing in Aerodynamics and Propulsion, his research interests span across sustainable aviation, aerodynamics, propulsion systems, computational fluid dynamics, aerodynamic design optimization, and motorsports engineering.
Before his master s program, Barath earned a B. Tech Degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. During the senior year of his undergraduate studies, he interned at University of Southampton under Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre and Airbus Noise Technology Centre where he conducted research on enhancing aero-acoustic performance and analyse aerodynamic performance parameters for the aero-engine intake duct. During his junior year, he worked at The ePlane Company, India, which is developing the country s first electric aircraft taxi. There, he was responsible for designing and optimizing the overall aircraft and battery pack modules to enhance aerodynamic and thermal efficiency.
During his time away from the world of aerospace, Barath enjoys his time doing photography, graphic design, listening to music and playing videogames.
